FAQ's
What are your qualifications?
I hold BACP accreditation and UKRCP Registration. I have completed a rigorous two-year Master's degree in Pastoral Counselling and a four-year university degree in Counselling Psychology with honours. I also hold a certificate in Multi-Systemic Family Therapy and a certificate in Relationship Counselling. I routinely and pursue a range of professional development in various specialist areas.
I have worked in various clinics, hospitals, and charitable organisations providing counselling to adults and families over the past 9 years both in the UK and America.
In addition to my therapy training, I have substantial business experience that is valuable in working with clients who are facing work-related concerns or organizational difficulties. I have also undergone several years of personal psychotherapy which I believe is a critical element of training for all practitioners.
How long does therapy go on for?
Counselling can be both time-limited and open-ended according to your needs Open-ended counselling is more appropriate for some individuals and circumstances. Psychotherapy tends to be open-ended.
What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?
The difference between counselling and psychotherapy is currently under debate. Counselling tends to be less intensive than psychotherapy and psychotherapy tends to go on for a longer period of time and requires a practitioner with a more advanced level of training. There is no need to differentiate between the two when making an enquiry.
What type of counselling / psychotherapy do you practice?
I am mainly trained in person-centred counselling & psychotherapy but also draw on my current professional development and supervision which is from a Jungian psychotherapeutic framework. I am also able to use cognitive-beahvioural methods when appropriate. My range of training allows me to be flexible in my approach.
